China Academic Journals Network Martin Heijdra, June 2002
Princeton has subscribed to all components of the China
Academic Journals Database. For titles which existed in 1994 and later, we also have access to all issues going back to issue 1, as far as the early 20th century; however, titles already ceased by 1994 are not included. (For those, use the Quan guo bao kan suo yin indexes.) The periodicals are part of the China
National Knowledge Infrastructure produced at Tsinghua (Qinghua) University.
There is free access to the index parts only also to the Sciences parts Princeton
does not have access to from the original Chinese site.
The easiest set-up is using IE with the Microsoft Input Methods:
see the section Using CJK.
Go to http://china.eastview.com;
click on "China Academic Journals". Note: you have to be on the
Princeton campus
Do a search (e.g., Chen Gaohua 陈高华 in author); don't forget
to choose the subjects you want to search in
Choices for fields to search are self-explanatory, as are
choices for ranking. Use "advanced search" for Boolean searching
Click on the disk icon to download the article, or click on
the article title and then click "pdf download"
You can save the article, or open it immediately with Adobe Acrobat
(it will open automatically)
Results are of two kinds: image based articles and text-based
articles; e.g., if you selected all domains, you will have found for Chen
Gaohua both image based articles (see, e.g. 城市史的重要成果 ) and text-based articles
(see, e.g. 元中都的兴废 )
While you can search on the full text of articles (image and/or
text based), currently the search terms found are not highlighted in the articles
themselves.
There are a few journals of which the contents are listed,
but which are not downloadable for copyright reasons; some of these are available if you provide an email addres when prompted.
